TRIO SPECTRUM

ACCORDION

Performing in:
2025- 2026

The Trio Spectrum, formed by Gabriele Caivano, Alfredo Barberio, and Nicolas Lepore, was established in 2023 with the aim of promoting awareness of the bayan, a free-reed instrument with extraordinary timbral and expressive possibilities that is still little known to the general public. The ensemble is dedicated to performing original works, transcriptions from the classical repertoire, and arrangements of film scores, with the goal of highlighting the richness and versatility of this instrument.

Since the beginning of its artistic activity, the Trio has carried out an intense concert schedule in collaboration with numerous musical associations and institutions across Italy, performing in auditoriums, theatres, and prominent cultural venues. Each performance becomes an opportunity to share an innovative musical language, capable of bridging tradition and contemporaneity through the unique sound of the bayan.

Over the years, the Trio has received numerous international awards and recognitions. In 2025, it was awarded Second Prize at the Trophée Mondial de l’Accordéon (France) and won the 7th Concert Season “Sinfonie d’Autunno” in Laterza (TA). In the same year, it achieved Third Prize at the 50th Premio Internazionale della Fisarmonica in Castelfidardo, as well as First Prize overall at the International Music Competition “Ispirazioni Sonore” and at the 35th International Competition for Young Musicians “Città di Barletta.”

In 2024, the Trio was awarded First Prize at the International Music Competition “Tiziano Rossetti,” received the award for Best Italian Chamber Ensemble at the 49th Premio Internazionale della Fisarmonica in Castelfidardo, and obtained Second Prize at the “Giulio Rospigliosi” Competition. In the same year, it also won First Prize overall at the “Armonie della Sera,” Città di Sapri, and 14th Italia Award competitions, as well as Second Prize at the International Competition “Pietro Argento.” This series of achievements began in 2023 with First Prize overall at the International Chamber Music Competition “San Vincenzo la Costa.”

Alongside these artistic accomplishments, the Trio has established a significant collaboration with Bugari, the historic accordion manufacturer based in Castelfidardo. As part of a project combining art, tradition, and innovation, the Trio recorded the well-known piece “Lupin” by Franco Micalizzi, specially arranged by Maestro Walter Di Girolamo. The music video, filmed at the Bugari headquarters and distributed across digital platforms, represents a compelling meeting point between music and craftsmanship, highlighting both the artisans’ expertise and the expressive potential of the bayan.

Through this synergy, Trio Spectrum conveys the excellence of Made in Italy and the authentic soul of an instrument that has become a defining symbol of its musical identity.
