TRIO HIERACON
Performing in:
2025
Formed in 2022 in Turin, the Trio Hieracon is the result of an artistic collaboration between pianist Maria José Palla, violinist Gioele Pierro, and cellist Gabriele Marchese.
The Trio’s name pays homage to the Auditorium of the Hotel Hieracon in Carloforte, a splendid venue that hosted the ensemble’s debut recital in 2023. The name also references the ancient name of the Sardinian island from which the Trio’s pianist originates.
From 2022 to 2024, Trio Hieracon studied under Maestro Antonio Valentino at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Turin. In 2023, they embarked on an advanced course of study in Rome through the three-year program led by Maestro Ivan Rabaglia at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
The group actively participates in a wide range of supplementary educational activities and advanced training courses, receiving invaluable guidance from highly esteemed artists such as Enrico Pace, Alberto Miodini, Bruno Canino, Claudio Voghera, and Claudia Ravetto.
In 2023, the Trio was awarded First Prize at the national competition organized by the Mantua-based association dedicated to pianist and composer Stefano Gueresi, in collaboration with the L. Campiani Conservatory of Mantua.
The Trio has also earned distinction in various international competitions, including the Giangrandi–Eggmann Competition in Cagliari and the Gasparo da Salò Competition in Brescia.
In 2024, the Trio Hieracon was selected—by an artistic committee chaired by Maestro Simone Gramaglia—to become part of the network “Le Dimore del Quartetto,” with which they have developed a fruitful and meaningful collaboration, enriched by concerts, touring experiences, and artistic projects.
The ensemble currently maintains an intense artistic and educational output and is invited to perform in some of the most prestigious concert seasons in Italy, including the Unione Musicale of Turin, Amici della Musica of Florence, Le Dimore del Quartetto in Milan, and the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome.
The Trio’s repertoire is the subject of ongoing aesthetic and structural research. It is extremely eclectic and diverse, spanning over three centuries. Special attention is given to 20th-century and contemporary music, with a particular focus on collaborations with prominent living composers such as Giulio Castagnoli.
Gioele Pierro plays a 1963 violin by Giacomo & Leandro Bisiach, generously provided by the Cosimo Bisiach collection, in collaboration with The String Circle and Le Dimore del Quartetto. He also plays a more recent violin made in 2018 by Enzo Cena.
Gabriele Marchese plays a 2016 cello made by Franco Simeoni.
