QUARTETTO ICARO

The Icaro Quartet, a very recent formation, was born from its members’ desire to deepen their understanding of string quartet repertoire and performance practice. The quartet originated within the more established Dedalo Quintet, a chamber music group founded in 2021 at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Turin. Alongside pianist Alessandro Vaccarino, they have been attending the chamber music course held by Bruno Giuranna at the Stauffer Academy since 2023.
As a quintet, they have performed for various institutions in Turin, including Unione Musicale, Contrametric Ensemble, and Le Serate del Conservatorio. In 2023, they also performed in Germany, in Hagen and Unna, as part of the Young European Classics concert series.
In the summer of 2024, they took part in the advanced courses of the Summer Academy at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. In September 2024, they performed in Cremona during the Chamber Music Week as a selected ensemble, following masterclasses with Wu Han and David Finkel.
In January of this year, they opened the concert season of the Società Filarmonica di Trento. They have also taken part in various masterclasses, including those led by Enrico Pace and Andrea Lucchesini.
