“400 years of contemporary music”
Contemporary Music Hub 2023
I’M Exchange intends to create, in the months of October, November and December, a mini-cycle of five concerts entitled Contemporary Music Hub – “400 years of contemporary music”. The event is an integral part of the “SNODI” project. The concerts will be followed or preceded, as the case may be, by educational meetings with students from the schools of Guarene and possibly Piea and Neviglie.
The event is in collaboration with EstOvest Festival, VPerformance Milano, and Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo. The School Project must still be defined in mutual agreement with the Culture Department of the Municipality of Guarene.
Contemporary Music Hub is an initiative of I’M Exchange aimed at giving voice to contemporary musical creativity, at creating a space of expression for new compositions so that the transition from today’s time to the timeless dimension, an intrinsic characteristic of true work, can be made of art. With “400 years of contemporary music”, the first edition of Contemporary Music Hub, we will try to highlight the fact that in every era written music has been contemporary and that, when performed in public, the music of any era becomes contemporary. In the four concerts a journey back in time will be taken, from the music written today and interpreted by the dedicatee, highlighting the indissoluble bond that exists between the composer and the performer, to that of the 17th century which requires the performer to be able to interpret it. and then bringing it into the present, a great imaginative effort.
“400 years of contemporary music” thus becomes an act of defiance against the arrow of time, against the compulsive need for novelty. It is therefore possible to proceed by broadening the horizon of the past to bring it into the present.
